File Storage in the Lab

You should avoid storing any data on the C: drive (ie: in My Documents) as much as possible as this drive is cleared every time the computer restarts. Instead:
  • Store files in your folder on the Humanities Network (N:).
  • Bring a USB drive into the lab.
  • Bring a Firewire drive to use with the video systems. These have both Firewire 400 and 800.
  • On the video systems, there is an L: drive. This is local storage that does not clear with every restart. You can use it as temporary space for whatever you need, but keep in mind that every user on that computer can see all files on the L: drive. The drive will be cleared periodically, so do not leave important files on it.
