Competition is open to undergraduates with a declared major in a humanities discipline and a cumulative grade point average at or above 3.0. The scholarship is renewable up to a maximum of two years, provided that the recipient maintains a 3.0 minimum cumulative grade point average. Priority will be given to students who have participated in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization, but other applicants with strong community service will be considered.The Luther F. Leadership awards are made annually to students who have distinguished themselves through academic excellence, leadership and service. Candidates are nominated by faculty and recipients selected by a faculty and alumni panel.The Humanities Alumni Society Outstanding Student Award
The Humanities Alumni Society Outstanding Student Award recognizes a senior student who will graduate spring 2008 and who has attained success in scholarship, leadership, and service. The competition is limited to faculty-nominated students with a declared major in the humanities and a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average. Nominees will demonstrate dedication to a cause, idea, or organization, and possess a record of special service to the University, community, or to the welfare of others.The Katherine L. Hall Prize
The Katherine L. Hall Prize recognizes outstanding leadership, service, and academic achievement, in the memory of Katherine L. Hall, formerly a resident of Akron, Ohio. Students must be nominated by a faculty member for the Hall Prize and all eligible nominees will be junior-rank females majoring in a discipline within the College of Humanities. Nominees must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.4 and demonstrate leadership skills and a record of service inside and outside the University. Nominees will be evaluated by a panel of faculty, staff, and friends of the College.
