-- Special Opportunities
Humanities majors serve as Peer Mentors for incoming Freshmen with a declared major in the Humanities. Mentors and mentees meet each other for the first time, along with invited faculty, at the Peer Mentoring Program Barbecue on the Sunday following Welcome Week, 5:00-7:00 p.m., in the tent outside University Hall on the Oval. Activities continue throughout the year.
The College of Humanities will host the sixth annual Look Into Your Future, a career-exploration program designed for Humanities majors and minors on Thursday, February 20, 6:00-8:30 pm, Faculty Club, 181 South Oval Mall. The event is being organized by the Dean's Student Advisory Group, which has invited local Humanities alumni to participate and discuss their careers and how what they learned in their humanities classes relates to their careers. Alumni will provide advice on resume writing, interview strategies, getting a "foot in the door," networking, etc. All students are welcome and should RSVP to 292-1882.
Each year the College of Humanities hosts a Baccalaureate the afternoon before Spring Commencement to which all graduating Humanities seniors are invited. The Baccalaureate is a celebration of the accomplishments of its graduating students, faculty, and alumni.
Students selected for the Dean's List must complete a minimum of 12 graded credit hours with a 3.50 or higher CPHR for any given quarter.
