African-American and African Studies

for most outstanding essay during the preceding academic year
- Marilyn R. Waldman Award
for best paper in an undergraduate Comparative Studies course
- Intensive Chinese Language Scholarship
to be used as a tuition waiver; must be undergraduate major in Chinese; priority given to those with dual majors - Louise Loh Memorial Scholarship
2-4 years; focus in program of study pertaining to East Asian Studies

for a French Honor Student in recognition of scholarship for honors paper or class work - Price Traveling Scholarships
for students participating in Departmental French study programs; based on academic achievement - Arthur C. Jahn Memorial Scholarship
to be used for tuition; French or Italian major; preference given to juniors or seniors who have obtained (or are obtaining) upper- level language skills (400 level or above) with a GPA of 3.0. Students should be taking coursework in accounting or other areas of business
- Dieter Cunz Award
for best undergraduate in the Department who has taken at least six courses at the 200-600 level - Ilsedore Edse Scholarship Award
for a German major or minor with junior/senior standing; 3.2 GPA in German, 3.0 overall; first time travel to a German-speaking country for an eight-week or longer stay. Preference is given to future teachers of German - Undergraduate Essay Award

awarded to qualified undergraduates who plan to pursue the study of Dutch, German, Swedish, or Yiddish language and culture in a study abroad program; preference given to German, Scandinavian Studies, and Yiddish majors /minors; based on merit and need; contingent upon acceptance into the study abroad program

for best paper written by an undergraduate History major - Marvin R. Zahniser Scholarship
one scholarship awarded to a student entering the senior year who is majoring in History with a 3.7 or better GPA - Gerry D. Guthrie Scholarship
awarded to an undergraduate honors History major
- Undergraduate Scholarships
declared major in Hebrew, Yiddish, or Jewish Studies; 3.3 GPA; 15 hours completed in major with at least 10 at 400 level - Roth Memorial Fund Essay Contest
an undergraduate who has written a paper on a topic related to Jewish studies - Advanced Studies Scholarship
tuition for best undergraduate in program; must be Jewish Studies major or engaged in courses of study that include a significant Jewish Studies component, pursuing advanced studies in Judaica in U.S. or abroad - Conference Travel
for travel to an academic conference in which student may or may not deliver a paper on a topic related to Jewish Studies - Student Research
for research clearly related to a major project in Jewish Studies that forms part of the student's academic program - Additional Funding
Funding is available from the Skilken Family Foundation for scholarships and travel assistance specifically for students in Yiddish
- Diane M. Cummins Scholarship in Hebrew Studies
given to an outstanding student for excellence in Hebrew Studies; awarded on the recommendation of Hebrew faculty
Philosophy
- Bingham Award for Undergraduate Excellence in Philosophy
undergraduate who has taken a philosophy course during present school year and has written an essay endorsed by a faculty member or TA in the past year
- Pushkin Award
honors most outstanding undergraduate who is taking coursework in the Slavic Department; based on leadership, service, and academic achievement
- Loann Crane Awards for Hispanic Studies
for majors in Spanish or Portuguese who plan to study in a Hispanic country in the next 12 months; based on academics, the program chosen, and one letter of recommendation - Pardo Award
for Undergraduate Research Papers
- Common Differences
for outstanding graduate and undergraduate paper on women of color - Robin Wiehm Award
for outstanding undergraduate paper, no longer than 12 pages, written for a Women's Studies class - Lillian Gates Women's Studies Scholarship
to be used for tuition for at least two quarters for Women's Studies majors with at least 125 credit hours; based on academic performance and commitment to the goals of feminist scholarship; at least 3 letters of recommendation with one from a member of the Women's Studies faculty, copy of transcript, paragraph discussing financial need, and a one-page statement about the role of Women's Studies in the students education and plans for the future
