First job out of college: journalist, Call & Post.
Ella Coleman earned a B.A. in Speech Communications focusing on broadcast journalism, with minors in religion and writing, from Capital University, and a master's degree in African American and African Studies from Ohio State. Her years as a working journalist began as a writer for various newspapers and magazines, as well as a radio and television talk show host and producer. Currently, she is president and C E O of Ellavation Enterprises, Inc., a communications company specializing in the production of publications and radio/television programs. The company provides inspirational and motivational speaking for corporations, businesses, organizations, and churches. She is also the publisher and editor-in-chief of Purpose Magazine, an inspirational, motivational bimonthly publication distributed nationally via subscriptions. Since she started Purpose Magazine eleven years ago, the newsstand publication has progressed through a series of developing phases to become a source to thousands of readers for generating inspiration, motivation, and discovering purpose. Between 1986 and 1996, Coleman was the T V talk show host/producer of "Keeping in Touch with the World," a weekly international cultural exchange show on A C T V Channel 21 in Columbus. In 1993 she hosted and produced "Moments with Purpose," an inspirational radio show with a blended format of narrations, music, and interviews on W A B Q 1540 A M in Cleveland. She hosted and produced "Express Yourself," a one-hour, live, call-in, community talk show on W C K X 106.3 F M in Columbus, from 1986 to 1990. She is the founder of Purpose for Life Foundation, a non-profit education facilitating organization for youth and adults. She has received numerous honors and awards, including the Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Governor's Humanitarian Award; Secretary of State, Treasurer of State and Senatorial citations, city proclamations for outstanding publishing and community service; the Blue Chip Award for Excellence in Communications, and a Distinguished Leadership Award from the United Negro College Fund. Coleman is an ordained minister.
