Mission Statement
This Society is formed to promote the advancement of the best interests of The Ohio State University College of Humanities (which is comprised of the following units: The Departments of African American and African Studies, Comparative Studies, East Asian Languages and Literatures, English, French and Italian, Germanic Languages and Literatures, Greek and Latin, History, Linguistics, Near Eastern Languages and Cultures, Philosophy, Slavic and East European Languages and Literatures, Spanish and Portuguese, and Women's Studies; and seven interdisciplinary centers – African American and African Studies Community Extension Center, the Center for Epigraphical and Palaeographical Studies, the Center for Folklore Studies, the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies, the Center for the Study of Teaching and Writing, the Center for the Study of Religion, the Foreign Language Center, and the Melton Center for Jewish Studies) by providing fellowship and the furtherance of professional relationships among the alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends of the Society.
