The College of Humanities
The College of Humanities at The Ohio State University is home to 14 departments and 9 interdisciplinary centers that are critical to the liberal education of students in a modern world. Not only are these areas essential for the development of solidly grounded general knowledge, they are also key to historical memory, to literary imagination and linguistic appreciation, to sound ethical and philosophical judgment, and to a rich cultural understanding of the world around us.With 343 distinguished faculty members, 700 graduate students, and over 3,000 undergraduates, the College of the Humanities is one of the largest gatherings of humanists in one place in the world, offering 25 undergraduate major programs and 37 minors, 13 Ph.D. programs, 17 M.A. programs, and an M.F.A program. It has a vibrant honors and scholars program across all major areas, innovative training in over 35 languages, rich opportunities for cross-disciplinary research and learning, and state-of-the-art technologies that support research and instruction.
Together, the students, faculty, and staff of the College of Humanities form an intellectual community whose goals include academic excellence, enhancing the student experience, engagement with the community, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity.
